MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A vigil is being held by Memphis Young Republicans on Thursday in honor of Charlie Kirk, who they call "a conservative hero."

The vigil will be at the Germantown Municipal Park Pavilion, located at 1900 South Germantown Road, at 6:30 p.m.

The political organization says this is a time to "pray, connect, and encourage" one another to fight for the generation and keep Kirk's movement alive.

Kirk, 31, was hit by a single gunshot believed to have been fired from the roof of a nearby building as he spoke at an event on a Utah college campus on Wednesday.
