Two 20-year-old sports pitches in east Pollokshields, which are near the end of their usable life, will receive a £300,000 boost.
Local councillor Zen Ghani announced the multi use games areas (MUGA) located beside Pollokshields community centre and within Maxwell Square Park are to be upgraded as there have been concerns over their condition.
Councillor Ghani said the move will provide "safe, high-quality spaces for local children and young people" as the area suffers from poverty and high levels of overcrowding within homes.
The cash boost for the Glasgow City Council owned pitches was awarded at the Pollokshields Area Partnership meeting this week, which is chaired by councillor Ghani.
