FILLMORE COUNTY, Neb. (KSNB) - There are four new Nebraska additions to the National Register of Historical Places.
One of them is Grafton High School in Fillmore County.
In a release from the Nebraska State Historical Society, Grafton High School was selected as it is significant to the histories of education and agriculture. The two-story building was built in 1914 with symmetrical Neoclassical Revival Massing and Medieval Revival embellishments.
It reflects the townspeople’s desire to keep up with evolving standards for educational outcomes and public facilities.
The community hoped the curriculum would attract students from the surrounding areas, making it an example of the kind of small-town institution that has contributed to the rural depopulation.
