MOREHEAD, Ky. — Troopers from the Kentucky State Police Post 8 will join law enforcement partners from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia for the 6-State Trooper Project, aimed at reducing crime and keeping illegal firearms out of communities.
According to a release from KSP's Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, the enforcement period will concentrate on criminal patrol operations, specifically focusing on identifying felons in possession of firearms. Troopers will use traffic enforcement to detect illegal activity while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws prohibiting certain individuals from carrying firearms.
"By working together across state lines, we are able to take a stronger stand against crime," said Capt. John Dowdy, commander of KSP Post 8. "Ever
