GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Corewell Health is the first hospital system in Michigan to introduce a safer, more efficient treatment for patients with persistent atrial fibrillation.

Dr. Brian Williamson performed the first atrial fibrillation procedure using Medtronic’s Affera Mapping and Ablation System and Sphere-9 Catheter on July 14 at William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak.

Dr. Wassim Jawad performed the first procedure in West Michigan on Aug. 7 at Corewell Health’s Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids.
