Our skies will be filled with millions of flying objects tonight as the fall bird migration tracks over Michigan. Tonight is expected to be one of the biggest nights for bird migration. There’s a way all of us can see the migration in real-time.

Birdcast.info says the fall bird migration was in full swing last night with almost 10 million birds flying across our state from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. today.

Tonight through the weekend is also expected to have high amounts of bird migrations over Michigan.

The birds are so numerous they actually show up as what looks like rain showers on our National Weather Service doppler radars, called NEXRAD Radars. We have four NEXRAD radars in Michigan: White Lake, Grand Rapids, Gaylord and Marquette.

I noticed the odd look on the radar at 5:00 a.m. today.
