MCKENZIE BRIDGE, Ore. - Firefighters are battling the Foley Ridge Fire, which has burned 249 acres since it started last Saturday.
The fire, caused by lightning on Sept. 6, remains at 0% containment. According to fire officials, 228 personnel, including dozers, aircraft, engines, and hand crews, are working to suppress the fire. Efforts are focused on strengthening containment lines along the southern slope of Foley Ridge.
Crews are creating a shaded fuel break along Highway 242, also known as McKenzie River Highway. Engine crews are establishing hose lays along Forest Service Roads 450 and 208.
Smoke is visible in the area and may settle into nearby drainages overnight.
