OTTAWA — With violent crime taking firm hold on city streets, the Conservatives are set to introduce a private members’ bill they say will correct Liberal soft-on-crime policy.

“Crime is raging out of control,” said Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre at a Thursday morning press conference in Woodbridge, referencing speakers before him who shared harrowing stories of Canada’s crime epidemic.

“Sean Fraser, Minister of ‘injustice,’ the man who ruined our entire immigration system before Mr. Carney promoted him to be responsible for the crime crisis, said the other day, ‘this is not the wild west.’ Really? Has he talked to these victims?”

He dismissed allegations of fomenting sensationalism, saying all you need to do is speak with the victims to understand how bad the problem in Canada is
