GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — In honor of the 24th anniversary of 9/11, St. Mary's Regional Hospital celebrated local first responders by offering free breakfast.
"We've been doing this for many years. I don't know the exact number, but it's been many years that this has been our tradition," said Vee Edstrom, trauma and EMS outreach coordinator for St. Mary's.
Edstrom says it's important to recognize those doing the hard work every day.
"We want to remember those first responders that came to the twin towers on 9/11. And then we also want to honor our EMS and first responders here for what they do every day… We couldn't do what we do without them and we're really grateful for them."
