NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The demolition of a gymnasium in a Metro Parks facility that collapsed in May is set for demolition, according to Parks officials.

The West Park Community Center gym collapsed one weekend in May. At the time, Metro Board of Parks and Recreation officials believed the beams holding up the gym ceiling deteriorated, causing the collapse.

At the time of the collapse, the gym had been closed and fenced off for several months, Parks officials told News 2 at the time. No one was inside the gym at the time, and no injuries were reported.

According to Metro Parks Superintendent of Community Affairs Jackie Jones, the demolition will take about two weeks to clear out the existing structure and pad.
