A Dickinson County employee has received international recognition for her dedication to technology and public service.

On Aug. 14, Alyssa Boss, the county’s network administrator, learned she had been named the recipient of the GMIS Rising Star Award from GMIS International, an award for which she had no idea she was even nominated for.

Boss learned she was selected as the Rising Star recipient while at the quarterly state 911 board meeting, on which she holds an IT advisor position.

“I received an email notifying me — congratulations, you have won the award,” she said. “Honestly, I was shocked, because I didn’t know I had been nominated, but I was very, very grateful. There’s nothing quite like being recognized by your peers for the work that you do every day.”
