BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern Cancer Run and Walk Festival is set to return to the Park at River Walk for the 12th year on Sept. 20.

The Kern Cancer Run and Walk is scheduled for Sept. 20 at 8 a.m. at the Park at River Walk, according to organizers.

Executive Director of the Kern County Cancer Foundation, Michelle Avila, joined 17 News at Noon to explain how you can participate by raising funds and awareness for those battling cancer while having fun at the same time.

Avila said over 2,000 people are expected to attend the event this year, marking a continued growth in the past couple years.
