FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Franklin county schools have been using the current Career and Technical Education center for more than 30 years.
Thousands of students have walked the hall and Franklin County Superintendent Kevin Siers said the building is in need of an upgrade.
“We’ve got a lot of security concerns with our current setup. We can’t maximize enrollment in our current facilities and there’s no room to expand for new programs,” Siers said.
The Mod-U-Kraf building is the proposed site for the new CTE Center, but rezoning issues with Rocky Mount kept the move from happening.
Monday, Rocky Mount Council members voted to approve text amendments that will make the center closer to being a reality.
