BUFFALO, N.Y. — A former Jericho Road accountant will spend three months in prison after admitting he stole nearly $600,000 from the nonprofit.

Prosecutors say 30-year-old Dejan Karlovic submitted fake invoices last year, making them look like resettlement expenses, then paid them off with the agency's credit cards.

Karlovic was also ordered to pay back the full amount, totaling $584,884.99. He will also forfeit a BMW, a pickup truck, and more than $240,000 in cash and accounts.

Prosecutors with the office of U.S Attorney Michael DiGiacomo said Karlovic, a senior grants accountant at Jericho Road — which operates the Jericho Road Community Health Center — exploited his position to access commercial credit cards and financial accounts.
