MCPHERSON, Kan. (KSNW) - Heavy rains have left lasting damage at The Roundhouse gym at McPherson High School, after flooding destroyed its hardwood floors. The soaked court has been torn out, leaving only concrete.
The building, in use since 1963, has endured two major floods this summer. Superintendent Dr. Shiloh Vincent says that while the district made progress after the first flood over the summer, the second one set the district back even further.
"A lot of what we've heard is not surprisingly, a lot of people that are really eager to get it back up and running. Our board is interested in that too, but with the second flood that came through, and that continued rainfall, we just have to make sure the site is protected," Dr. Shiloh Vincent, the McPherson Schools Superintendent, said.
