WEBSTER COUNTY, Mo. — A Conway man has filed a petition for damages against Webster County, alleging negligence in connection with a car crash on a county bridge.

According to the petition, Laggette Slaughter suffered injuries on Nov. 23, 2024, when his 2014 Ford F-150 traveled off the left side of a bridge on Black Horse Road, overturned, and came to rest upside down in a creek bed. Slaughter was partially ejected from the vehicle.

The petition alleges Webster County was responsible for designing and maintaining the bridge, including placement of railings and signage. The allegations also claim the Black Horse Road bridge was in a dangerous condition and posed a foreseeable risk of injury, which the county knew or should have known about.
