(WHTM) -- A Schuylkill County woman was killed when authorities say her tire failed and the truck she was driving struck an embankment and rolled.
The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 81 Northbound near milepost 78.9 by the Grantville rest area, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Harrisburg.
Troopers said Carol Lopez, 56, of Schuylkill Haven, was headed northbound in the left lane of Interstate 81 in a 2015 Mack Granite when her front right tire failed.
The truck made an abrupt right turn, crashing through a guiderail and travelling up an embankment before rolling.
Lopez was trapped in the vehicle and had to be rescued by responding firefighters.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
