The festive mood turned momentarily serious at Jason Aldean’s Thursday night (Sept. 11) concert as he saluted his late friend Charlie Kirk after a “rough couple of days.”
The country star — not usually very talkative at his shows — addressed Kirk’s death for two minutes before a sold-out crowd at Pine Knob Music Theatre in suburban Detroit. The tribute came a day after the conservative activist and rising political figure was assassinated during a college event.
“I couldn’t get through tonight without addressing something that happened yesterday, as you guys well know,” Aldean said. “An amazing person by the name of Charlie Kirk was murdered yesterday in Utah.”
