My colleague and I recently attended a presentation on the economic challenges faced by solar and wind energy generation at the Falmouth Public Library. The presentation was disappointing, as it relied on misinformation and non-peer-reviewed studies to attempt to paint a grim picture about the future of these alternative energy sources. It is not possible for this letter to address all of the problems with the presentation, but it is important to point out one key issue.
The fundamental omission was the lack of any discussion of why alternative energies are being considered in the first place.
