A regional NSW man has been awarded a $450,000 damages payout after being wrongly jailed when the police officer son of former NSW premier Kristina Keneally fabricated evidence.

Nowra man Luke Moore, 38, was arrested in February 2021 after Daniel Keneally falsely stated Mr Moore had threatened that he wanted to kill a police officer.

Mr Moore spent 22 days in prison.

Keneally was convicted in 2023 after the court found he falsely claimed Mr Moore threatened police during a phone call to Newtown Police Station in February 2021.

The court heard Mr Moore, who was living in Goulburn at the time, rang to complain about a strip search.

Keneally was subsequently charged and convicted of fabricating evidence about an alleged death threat.
