A dry and sunny Friday will be a precursor for what National Weather Service forecasters expect to be a largely dry but cooler than average weekend across Massachusetts.
A large surface high-pressure system is to thank for the dry conditions and slight cooldown. High temperatures are expected to reach the high 60s to 70s along the coast on Friday, with warmer temperatures expected in the Connecticut River Valley.
On Saturday, some inland areas and along the immediate east coast can expect to see warmer conditions, but communities along the southern coast will be cooler thanks to wind off the water. Cloud cover is expected to increase as the day goes on.
There is a growing possibility Saturday could bring showers in the latter half of the day, but forecasters deemed it only a “slight cha
