(WFSB) - The Big E returned on Friday, Sept. 12, for a 17‑day run of food, exhibits, rides, and entertainment, bringing crowds to the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield.

New food offerings drew early attention, including deep‑fried strawberry shortcake, a pickle sundae, the “Craz‑E Burger,” and Apple Pie flavored cider, all part of this year’s wide array of indulgent treats.

The Connecticut Building, recently renovated, opened to visitors with its own attractions, such as, a beer garden, local vendors, and a display of the UConn Women’s Basketball National Championship trophy.

Classic fair elements like livestock competitions, nightly parades, a giant slide, petting zoo, rides and games added to the excitement.
