(WHTM) -- On September 12, 1998, the former Penn State Head Coach Joe Paterno made history by winning his 300th career game.

Not only did Paterno make history on this day nearly 27 years ago, but he and his team did so in grand fashion with the Nittany Lions defeating Bowling Green with a score of 48-3.

This blowout win marked Paterno's 300th career victory as a head coach, and the first one ever to do so while coaching at one college.
