A cat who disappeared nine years ago has finally been reunited with his owner after arriving at a Glasgow shelter.
George, a 14-year-old tabby cat , is back with his family after being missing for almost a decade. George’s owners reported him missing in 2016, and they believed he had passed away.
On arrival at the Scottish SPCA ’s Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Mosspark in the southside last week, stray George was scanned for a microchip. Staff said they were “amazed” to find that records showed George had been reported missing almost a decade ago.
With the registration details still up to date, the Scottish SPCA team was able to contact George’s “stunned” owners, who arrived at the centre the following day to collect him.
George is now settling in well at home wi
