One person has been charged after assaulting an officer with Kingston Police.

On Sept. 12, 2025 around 8 a.m. an officer was conducting a routine patrol in the area of Division and Stanley Streets when they saw an individual attempting to break into a vehicle.

When the officer intervened, the person became combative and physically attacked the officer. Following a struggle, the person tried to disarm the officer.

Two workers with the City of Kingston saw what was happening and came to the aid of the officer. Additional patrol units then attended, and the individual was taken into custody.

The officer was taken to a local hospital where they were treated for injuries sustained during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and the arrested individual will face ch
