Culp Inc. has launched its second major cost-reduction initiative in nearly 1½ years, this time planning to reduce annual expenses by at least $6 million.
A key restructuring component for the High Point fabrics manufacturer is a third operational consolidation that benefits its Stokesdale facility — this time transferring Read Window production from a leased facility being closed by year's end in Knoxville, Tenn.
"Project Blaze" also represents Culp's response to how Trump administration tariffs are hampering its Chinese-based operations, reaching as high as 150% this year.
Culp has not disclosed how many Read Window jobs will be affected, nor how many job positions, if any, the manufacturer plans to add in Stokesdale.
Culp said in its fiscal 2024 annual regulatory report that its o
