An Ottawa woman faces charges in connection with the illegal purchase of a firearm and the seizure of illegal drugs, provincial police said Friday.
Ontario Provincial Police reported officers were notified that a suspect, “whose possession and acquisition licence for firearms had been revoked for public safety reasons, was in possession of an illegally purchased shotgun.”

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit took steps to contact the individual, and she turned herself in to provincial police on Thursday, police added.
OPP East Region spokesman Bill Dickson said officers are investigating reports the shotgun was purchsed in North Grenville.
He would not comment further on the nature of the transaction, or how police learned of it, as the investigation continued.
