NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Officers in North Charleston arrested a juvenile Thursday for an attempted armed robbery that happened on Dorchester Road earlier in the week, the agency said.

A victim reported to the North Charleston Police Department that they had been approached and asked for money outside a store on Tuesday.

The victim told the person no and then went inside to the ATM, and when he went back outside, he was approached again by the suspect, but this time the suspect flashed a handgun that was hidden in his waistband.

The victim ran back inside the store and called the police.

A few days later, on Thursday night, an officer who was working an off-duty assignment recognized the juvenile suspect from camera footage at another location, according to the department.
