Secretary of State Diego Morales claims he's found a non-U.S. citizen living in Vigo County who voted in recent Indiana elections.
The Republican announced Friday that state and federal authorities are continuing to investigate the alleged illegal voting that, as a level 6 felony , carries a penalty of up to 2½ years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000.
Morales credited a statute enacted by the Republican-controlled 2024 General Assembly for helping identify the alleged non-citizen voter.
House Enrolled Act 1264 , which took effect July 1, 2025, required the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to share with election authorities a list of all individuals with a temporary driver's license or identification card, which Morales asserted indicates the holders are not U.S. citizens.
