Police issued a warning Friday morning after two Greeley residents reported receiving child sexual abuse material in the mail at the beginning of the month.
The explicit material was accompanied by threats and demanded that the recipients pay cryptocurrency to avoid being reported to the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security for possessing the material.
Kristen Duus, the public information officer for the Greeley Police Department, said the department has only received those two reports from residents who live in different parts of the city. Officers are investigating whether there is a possible connection between the two.
The mail had no return address and a Canadian stamp, leading the department to suspect it was mailed from Canada, according to the release.
