LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Some campuses remain closed after multiple Historically Black Colleges and Universities in several states were put on lockdown Thursday.

A series of reported threats led to lockdown orders, canceled classes and heightened security.

Virginia State University, Alabama State, Spelman, Bethune-Cookman and others were impacted. They had to abruptly close Thursday, but classes are back in session Friday.

Southern University will be closed through the weekend because of the threat.

There was no immediate threat reported at Simmons College in Louisville. However, the HBCU college president says campus safety is top of mind.
