A 63-year-old Buna man charged with eight counts of a rare sexual assault bigamy charge posted eight $25,000.00 bonds with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and is released.

Nathan Paul Woods was arrested September 3rd and was charged with eight counts of Sexual Assault Bigamy in connection with the alleged assault of one female.

The charges stem from as far back as 2022. The September 3rd charges supersede prior charges, Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said.

In Texas, a sexual assault can be enhanced to a first-degree felony if the victim was a person the defendant was prohibited from marrying or living with under the appearance of marriage, such as a spouse or a person considered a relative under Texas Family Code § 6.201, without proof of bigamy itself.
