For the 15th year in a row, firemen, police, veterans and other members of the local community turned out Saturday to remember the tragic day of September 9, 2001 when the US was attacked by terrorists.

The day of horror began early in the morning when an airliner crashed into the World Trade Center in New York. Other attacks would follow in Washington and Pennsylvania and before the day was over 2,977 would be dead and many others injures.

The event, which was organized by Roy James and others was held at the Veterans Memorial and 911 monument on the northwest side of the courthouse lawn in Downtown Jasper at 8:30.

The program began with the post of the flags by the Jasper County Emergency Services District #4 Color Guard.
