Hailey's Hop Porter Park this evening will be the site of a candlelight vigil in honor of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed Wednesday during a speaking event at Utah Valley University.

Kirk's assassination touched off widespread condemnation of political violence. Elected officials in Idaho and across the country offered condolences for Kirk's family, including his wife and two kids, and called for Americans to reckon with a spate of recent attacks on prominent figures across the political spectrum.
