ENFIELD, Conn. — An Enfield Department of Public Works employee died after a collision between a lawnmower and a car Friday, according to the town’s police department.

The incident occurred on North Main Street, just west of Route 5, around 12:15 p.m. near the town hall and town green.

Police identified the man riding the lawnmower as Jamie Nickerson, an employee of the town's Department of Public Works.

Nickerson was taken from the scene to Baystate Medical Center by Enfield EMS and was pronounced dead there several hours later.

The driver of the car, which was a Honda Accord, was identified as Alexander Torres. East Windsor EMS transported him from the scene to St. Francis Hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries.
