LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A new state law, SB 2753, has some concerned that certain voting locations are at risk of closing down.

Residents of one Lufkin neighborhood at risk have expressed their concerns, saying that being shut down would hinder their ability to vote. They are calling for change.

Dr. Guessippina Bonner has lived in the north Lufkin neighborhood for over 20 years and was informed that the Brandon Park voting location was at risk of closure in 2026. She says that most people in the neighborhood are elderly, don’t have cars, and walk to the polling location to vote.

Without Brandon’s location, she fears that people in her community won’t be accounted for.
