Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, delivered her first public remarks Friday night, thanking law enforcement, first responders and supporters following her husband’s assassination earlier this week.

Speaking from Turning Point USA’s studio, she described her husband as a devoted Christian, husband and father who “laid down his life for me, for our nation, for our children.” She said Kirk would want to be remembered for his courage and faith, and vowed to carry on his work.

“The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry,” she said. “The movement my husband built will not die. I refuse to let that happen.”
