TOPEKA, Kan. — A balanced attack had Minnesota State Moorhead racing past William Jewell in three sets before Washburn stalled the Dragons for the first time this season Friday at the Washburn Invitational volleyball tournament.

The Dragons beat William Jewell 25-15, 25-10, 25-9 and lost to Washburn 25-22, 25-21, 25-22.

Jocelin Feutz and Brielle Riess each had nine kills for the Dragons against William Jewell while Madi Colby had 21 assists. Maci Martini led the Dragons with 11 digs. In the second match against Washburn, Raiah Mandell had 10 kills for MSUM while Colby had 17 assists and Riese chipped in 12 digs.

Martini had five aces on the day.

MSUM (5-1) faces Emporia State and Truman State in Topeka on Saturday.
