SLATON — Preseason acclaim is one thing. The Slaton football team is out for accolades when it counts.

That time is still months away, but the early returns are positive. The Tigers flashed their potential with a balanced effort in Friday's 35-7 win over New Deal at Blake J. Boyd Memorial Stadium.

The offense was a known commodity. Slaton entered Week 3 with Class 3A Division II's highest-scoring offense at 56 points per game. The Tigers smothered New Deal to add a dangerous complement to their arsenal.
