SAN FRANCISCO, California — The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit Thursday against Uber , accusing the rideshare giant of systematically discriminating against passengers with disabilities.
Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the complaint accuses violations of Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which prohibits private transportation companies from denying equal access to people with disabilities. The lawsuit seeks $125 million in damages for affected riders and demands policy changes.
