SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Unsettled weather exits east today, with only a small potential for storms lingering in the Sierra.

Meanwhile, high pressure will edge in, and high temperatures will climb—returning to the upper 80s in the valley and peaking in the mid-80s in the foothills.

In the Sierra, the afternoon will be warmer but still cool, with highs topping out in the upper 60s. A few storms may develop in the afternoon as the Pacific system slowly progresses east, with most of the activity forming south of Tahoe.

High pressure settles in Saturday, and warming continues across the valley with highs near 90 degrees.
