Descendants of three Carter brothers have banded together to transform land in Dry Fork into a small-scale resort on 20 acres of an original homestead.

On Aug. 30, county and religious leaders gathered to bless the land that is proposed to be developed into Echo Valley Micro Resort.

With a centerpiece of nature, the development at 2835 West Sunrise Drive will include no more than 15 tiny units, a communal structure for small gatherings and small gardens.

It’s part of a larger 60 acres of land that traces its roots back long before the Colonial days, a news release reports.

The land was once part of the territory of the Siouan nation, a collection of related tribes sharing a common language. It was home to the Saponi tribe. The nearby Occaneechi tribe also had a presence in the region,
