A son jailed for life for murdering his elderly mother in a frenzied attack lashed out after she took a TV remote control from him, a court heard.

Surjit Singh, 39, repeatedly kicked and stamped on 76-year-old Mohinder Kaur after chasing her around the family home.

The frail pensioner, who was discovered by police lying on the living room floor, died later the same day on September 29 last year.

Birmingham Crown Court heard Singh flew into a drink and drug-fuelled rage at the property in Handsworth after his mum took the TV remote off him.

A post-mortem examination revealed Mrs Kaur suffered multiple injuries to her head, neck and limbs and a cause of death was given as blunt force trauma.
