SUMTER — The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a suspect in the killing of two Lowcountry women found dead in Rembert in August.

In a post on Facebook , the sheriff’s office said 29-year-old Tiamo Henry Mitchell Drakeford of Camden was arrested Sept. 12 in connection with the women’s deaths. He has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and desecration of human remains.

The investigation into their deaths is still ongoing, the post said.

The bodies of Kristen Grissom, 38, and Christine Marie McAbee, 35, were discovered in a wooded area in the Rembert area on Aug. 8.
