Dael Fry missed Middlesbrough’s draw at Preston North End with a calf issue which Boro are still trying to determine the severity of, in a worry for the Teesside defender.

Fry has started Boro’s season in excellent form, captaining the club as they started with four consecutive wins. But he missed the 2-2 draw with Preston North End on Saturday after feeling something in his leg in training during the international break.

Darragh Lenihan replaced him and proved a solid deputy in what was his first competitive start for almost two years. But Fry’s injury will be a concern because he’s previously had calf issues and was forced to miss nine months of action before his return towards the end of last season.
