Drug users in Glasgow have been warned after a man died and others took unwell in the Cowcaddens area .

Health chiefs issued the warning regarding crack cocaine - otherwise known as freebase cocaine - which could be getting mixed with something dangerous.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde issued the alert following a drugs-related incident in the city centre earlier this week that took the life of one man.

Emergency services were dispatched to Cambridge Street on Tuesday evening (September 9) following reports of a group of people taking ill. Crews attended and a 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ambulance staff treated a 38-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man in the area, while a 37-year-old man was also rushed to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
