Johnstown resident Scott Slaugh is the new Colorado House District 64 representative after receiving the majority of votes at a Republican vacancy committee meeting Saturday.
“I’m humbled and excited,” said Slaugh after receiving 23 of the 39 votes from committee members. “I do love to serve, and I do love to fight for what’s right.”
Slaugh will take the place of Ryan Armagost, who resigned in August ahead of a vote to censure him over a photograph of a fellow lawmaker that he shared, leading to crude comments in a group chat. Armagost had been planning to resign, later in the session, to pursue a job in Arizona.
