Resurrection Christian’s new-look offense showed two weeks ago how potent and explosive it can be in a season-opening 44-27 victory over Canon City.

Despite running into a stout Palisade defense in a 24-7 loss Friday night, the Cougars know what they are capable of with an offense that includes a new quarterback, a former quarterback now at wide receiver, and a running back who has been waiting for his opportunity.

All of them are led by new head coach Doug Johnson, who after 25 years at Longmont guided the Cougars to a win in his first game coaching the team before running into Palisade after a bye week.

Johnson is the third coach most of the seniors on the team have played for in the past three seasons.
