MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Memphis Police Department responded to an assault that took place at a football game Friday night.

MPD arrived at Whitehaven High School and spoke with an officer from Memphis Shelby County Schools, who told them he was assaulted by a 15-year-old boy at the game.

According to MPD, the 15-year-old and others around him were attempting to engage in a physical altercation.

He and other MSCS officers escorted them out of the gate, but they refused to leave the grounds.

After the officer grabbed the 15-year-old in an attempt to make him leave by force, the boy pushed him.

MPD says the officer then took the suspect to the ground, before he got back up in a fighting stance against the officer.
