TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — A woman was killed Saturday morning in Terre Haute after police say she was hit by a truck that was backing up into a parking space.

According to a release from the Vigo County Sheriff's Office , around 9:23 a.m. on Sept. 13, deputies and medics were called to the Love's Travel Stop located at 1740 East Harlan Drive in Terre Haute on a report that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

When deputies arrived on scene they found a woman who had been hit by a truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the initial investigation, police believe the truck was backing up into a parking space when it struck and killed the woman.
